Volley

Background

Tennis exploded in popularity in the early 1970s, and in 1973 the famous match between Billie Jean King and Bobby Riggs (the “Battle of the Sexes”) was a landmark event for women’s sports. A few years later in August 1976, Gottlieb released Volley, themed with a man and woman in a tennis match.

Just like Spin Out, Volley is a wedgehead electromechanical machine. It features 15 drop targets which change value based on whether the matching roll-over lane has been lit. Drop the targets in the banks one at a time to maximize your score!

This machine is deceptively simple. Explaining the rules takes just a moment, but executing them is a different story.
